Get to know Whey Protein,
a nutrient that increases height.

Whey Protein is a protein extracted from cow's milk extracted from the cheesemaking process of casein, protein, carbohydrate and fat, leaving only pure protein concentrate. They are then processed into different products, which can be categorized into three types of whey protein-based products:

1. Whey Protein Concentrate: WPC:

It is obtained from the preliminary filtration of whey protein though Ultrafiltration to separate the excess Lactose and Milk Fat. Then proceed by Dehydration with Spray Dryer to get whey protein powder with protein intensity in the range 29 - 89%. It contains all the essential Amino Acids and Branched-chain Amino Acids (BCAAs) have been essential to recover, repair and strengthen muscles.

Advantages of whey protein Concentrate is cheaper than other whey proteins because it does not have to be processed as much as other types of whey protein. But at the same time, whey protein concentrate also contains a certain amount of lactose, which is unsuitable for individuals with lactose intolerance and may experience diarrhea, bloating, and abdominal distension like drinking milk. Therefore, whey protein concentrate is suitable for people who do not have problems with digestion of lactose in milk

2.  Whey Protein Isolate: WPI:

It is pure whey protein from whey protein concentrate to increase the protein concentration and some of the sugar, lactose and still milk fat are mixed by Ion-exchange (IE). It is the separation of molecules of different substances by using electric charge on different molecules or Cross Flow Microfiltration (CFM). It is filtered through a ceramic filter that maintains the special properties of whey protein. The process can make this highly concentrated whey protein over 90%.

In addition, whey protein isolate contains the same amino acids as whey protein concentrate. Either it is the eight non-self-made amino acids or 20 others naturally occurring amino acids. In addition, it contains higher amounts of Branched Chain Amino Acid (BCAAs) than whey protein concentrate. These amino acids BCAAs have been studied to be essential for restoring and building muscle strength,

as well as increasing Growth Hormone levels.

Whey protein isolates are subjected to a more complex process and manufacturing process than whey protein concentrates, including superior properties. Hence, whey protein isolate is more expensive. But there are advantages: complete protein concentrations and amino acids that can be used in individuals with lactose intolerance because lactose is extracted to a small amount.

3. Hydrolyzed Whey Protein: HWP:

It is whey protein with the highest protein content is 90% or more. This type of whey protein is obtained by hydrolysis of whey protein concentrate or whey protein isolate. As a result, large whey protein molecules will be digested into small molecules called peptides and free amino acids. Scientific evidence suggests that proteins in the form of short-chain peptides are better absorbed by the body than larger molecules. Moreover, it is also less likely to cause protein intolerance than other whey proteins. Its disadvantage is that it has a very bitter taste, is expensive, and eliminates the properties of digestible proteins. Most people do not consume Hydrolyzed Whey Protein 100%, but it is often mixed with other types of whey protein to add better properties and to make it more flavorful and easier to eat.
